Desobediência civil e direito de resistência política

Na segunda metade do século XVI, em razão do aumento das perseguições aos protestantes por parte de governos católicos, a questão da desobediência civil e da resistência política ocupou um lugar de destaque no debate jurídico, teológico e político europeu. As discussões sobre a justificativa, os agentes e os meios lícitos de resistência à autoridade civil estabelecida continuaram acirradas na primeira metade do século XVII, em particular no decorrer das guerras civis ocorridas na Inglaterra. O objetivo deste texto é mostrar o surgimento e o fundamento dos argumentos em favor da desobediência civil e do direito de resistência política, no interior do pensamento reformado, que foram posteriormente utilizados durante as revoluções americana e francesa no século XVIII.
