AbstractThe book paints a broad picture of the history of Rio press since the turn of the century Nineteenth to the twentieth century until the early years of the century, showing its influence on the rest of Brazil. The technological and stylistic innovations of the press, so as the social, cultural and political as much of Rio de Janeiro - until 1960 capital of the Republic - the country are also analyzed and presented by author, writing an important social web in which journalism has a role predominant, either as mediator or as a translator element of polyphony urban and representative of the desires and aspirations which are in all latitudes of the country
