O início da história de duas praças do século 17: a Place des Vosges, em Paris, e Covent Garden, em Londres

A bibliografia e a documentação pertinentes à história da Place des Vosges e de Covent Garden, na primeira metade do século 17, são retomadas e analisadas com o objetivo de identificar as diretrizes de seus projetos e esclarecer como vieram a ser construídas. Procura-se mostrar que, no caso da Place des Vosges, a construção foi gradativa e marcada por conflitos entre os vários agentes envolvidos, sem que tivesse existido um projeto mais bem definido de uma place royale pela Coroa francesa. Já no caso de Covent Garden, pôde-se entender que a Coroa inglesa impôs, de início, o projeto de uma place royale, mas a resistência do IV conde de Bedford às determinações reais impediu sua realização.Downloads
