Definições e aplicações da resiliência na ciência geográfica

Resumo

O discurso da resiliência tem aumentado na atualidade quer na esfera acadêmica, política e/ou ambiental. Na ciência geográfica tem sido aplicada tanto no âmbito da Geografia Física como da Geografia Humana. Objetiva-se neste estudo demonstrar como o discurso e a definição da resiliência tem sido aplicado no âmbito da ciência Geográfica, com o propósito de contribuir para pesquisas futuras tanto na Geografia como em áreas a fins. Utilizou-se de pesquisa bibliográfica em website de periódicos internacionais e nacionais para identificar as publicações que aplicaram o conceito da resiliência dentro do contexto da Geografia. Constatou-se que a resiliência no campo da Geografia teve maior índice de publicações a partir de 2010, sobretudo no idioma português, embora existam maior número de publicações da temática em inglês, principalmente no campo da Geografia Humana. Verificou-se ainda, que na Geografia Humana a resiliência é mais debatida no âmbito do espaço rural e urbano, já na Geografia Física a resiliência está associada ao conceito de sustentabilidade, vulnerabilidade e capacidade de suporte de um ecossistema, sendo relevante sua aplicação para a gestão e planejamento ambiental.
