Abstract

Changes in the labor system have substantially transformed work, economic, social and cultural relationships. New meanings attributed to labor have imposed different perceptions, feelings, thoughts and actions on the subject. Considering the importance of the world of labor as a current subject, the labor system as a whole was analyzed in contemporary organizations to understand its impact on ways of thinking and living. A theoretical study of the relationship between man and labor was made in an effort to comprehend the meanings that continue to be associated with this important dimension of human activity. To achieve a most comprehensive historical outlook, the meanings of labor and underlying ideologies were studied from the perspective of disciplines such as Psychology, Sociology and Social Sciences.
