Abstract

In this interview which took place in Rio de Janeiro during the IX Symposium of Irish Studies in South America in 2014, Munira H. Mutran
(MHM) and Camila Luly (CL) asked Declan Hughes (DH) questions about his
plays and his crime novels.

Author Biographies

  • Munira H Mutran, University of São Paulo

    Munira H. Mutran is Associate Professor of Literatures in English at the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. She is a Doctor of Literature Honoris Causa at the National University
    of Ireland, Maynooth. Since 1980 she has been teaching and doing research work in Irish Studies. She has supervised sixteen MA dissertations and twenty three PhD theses
    on contemporary Irish playwrights and fictionists. Her published work includes books, chapters in books and articles, mainly on Irish writers. She is co-editor of the ABEI Journal – The Brazilian Journal of Irish Studies and of Lectures, a series organized by the W. B. Yeats Chair of Irish Studies at USP.

  • Camila Luly, University of São Paulo

    Camila Luly is an MA student in the Programme “Estudos Linguísticos e Literários em Inglês” at the University of São Paulo. Different aspects of her research have been presented in conferences and in a extra-mural course at USP. She has just finished her dissertation on
    the rewritings of George Farquhar’s plays The Beaux’ Stratagem (1707), by Ken Ludwig and Love and a Bottle (1698), by Declan Hughes.
