Author Biographies

  • Miguel Nenevé, Universidade Federal de Rondônia

    Miguel Nenevé is a retired Full Professor from the Federal University of Rondonia (UNIR), currently the  coordinator of Language Center at Faculdade Catolica de Rondonia (FCR) and a CNPq researcher level 2. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in English and Portuguese Literatures from the University of Southern Santa Catarina - UNISUL (1982) and in Social Studies from the Educational Foundation of the Jaraguá do Sul Region - UNERJ (1980). He holds a Master’s degree in Letters (Anglo-American Literature) from the Federal University of Paraíba (1986) and a PhD in Letters (English Language and Literatures) from the Federal University of Santa Catarina in conjunction with York University - Toronto (1996). He is currently a collaborative professor at the Master’s Program in Literary Studies at the Federal University of Rondônia and at the Master’s and Doctoral Program in Languages and Identities at the Federal University of Acre. He pursued postdoctoral research at York University, Toronto - Canada and at the University of Guyana in “Caribbean Literature”. He has worked as a visiting professor at the University of Texas at Lubbock and at the University of Guyana. He is also an international advisor to the Catholic Faculty of Rondonia. His field of interest is on Foreign Letters with an emphasis on English Language Literature, Education and Literature, Translation Studies, Postcolonial and Decolonial Studies. He is leader of the CNPq research group “Literature, Education and Culture: Paths of Alterity” and develops research on the following topics: Canadian literature, literature in the Amazon, discourse, education, post-colonialism. He has published extensively ontranslation, post-colonial literature, as well as travel literature on the Amazon and Canadian literature. He is also a writer of short stories and poetry. 

  • Hélio Rocha, Universidade Federal de Rondônia

    Hélio Rodrigues da Rocha graduated in English Letters from the Federal University of Rondônia - UNIR (1998) and in Portuguese Letters from the Paulista State University Júlio de Mesquita Filho - UNESP (1989). He holds a Master’s degree in Letters-Language and Identity from the Federal University of Acre - UFAC - (2008) and a PhD degree , in History and Literary Theory from the State University of Campinas - UNICAMP (2011). He also pursued post-doctoral research in Social History at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro - UFRJ (2016). Dr. Rocha currently teaches at the Academic Department of English Language - (DALE) at the Federal University of Rondônia – UNIR, in the area of Literature, with emphasis on Literary Studies, working mainly on the following topics: Amazonian studies, narratives of English-speaking travelers, colonization and barbarism; interlingual translation and cultural translation.
