"Um gosto bem pronunciado pela história natural”: as ventarolas de beija-flor de M.&E. Natté entre ciência e arte

Resumo

Este artigo visa discutir a relação de artefatos zoológicos com a popularização do discurso científico a partir das ventarolas decoradas com beija-flores taxidermizados produzidas pela empresa M.&E. Natté, no Rio de Janeiro da segunda metade de século XIX. Seus leques frequentemente apresentam o beija-flor em cena narrativa, interagindo com um fragmento de natureza. Argumento que esses artefatos, mais do que outros produtos zoológicos, transmitem concepções científicas em voga à época, bem como a preocupação da M.&E. Natté em projetar uma imagem vinculada à história natural.
