Abstract

Four mechanical properties: Maximum Limit (ML), Elasticity Limit (EL), Rigidity (RG) and Resilience (RS), of three suture patterns, they were appraised, for mechanical tests of traction. Thirty tendons of the muscles deep digital flexores, of corpses of equine, were separate in three groups of equal number and approximate with the sutures of modified Kessler with suture in the epitendon (MK), modified Becker (MB) and double-locking loop (DL). The resistance to the space formation and the tension loss was also appraised. The results showed that for the load, in ML, only the suture pattern MK was shown significantly different (P<0,05); while, in PL, the three suture patterns behaved equally. As for the deformation, in ML and in EL, the three suture patterns presented significant differences amongst themselves (P<0,05). In RG, only MK behaved different (P<0,05). And, in RS, the three suture patterns presented significant differences amongst themselves (P<0,05). As for the failure, the pattern MK failed for distention and loss of the function of the suture, while the patterns suture MB and DL failed for rupture of the thread. The suture pattern MK was shown superior to the other ones two, whose mechanical properties were equivalent
