The purpose of this experiment was to determine during experimental infection of goats the levels of total plasma protein and fibrinogen, serum aspartate aminotransferase, serum alanine aminotransferase, and direct and indirect total serum bilirrubins. Twenty healthy mongrel goats of both sexes, ten months old and with eight kilograms in body weight were utilized in this investigation. The animals were divided into two groups: group “A", control and the group "B" was inoculated intraperitoneally with five mililiters, of a culture of Leptospira interrogans serovar pomona, strain M7/87. The first blood sample was collected on the third day post infection. From the third to fifteenth day, samples were collected at four days intervals. Subsequently samples were collected at six days intervals between the sixteenth to the forty fourth day. Finally, between the forty fifth to the ninetieth day post infection, sample were collected at seven days intervals. Total and direct bilirrubin were significantly higher (P < 0.05) in the infected group than in the control group. For other parameters, there was no statistically significant difference (P < 0.05) between the two groups.
