Abstract

The article deals with the usage of audiovisual languages, most especially those seen on telwision, in Zhe schml. It makes a quick introduciion on the arrival of TV in Erazil and about its day-to-day presence among the population. It calls the educator's attention to confront the challenge of knowledge and of teaching by incorperating the audfovisual language, since h k s and the written language do not currently embrace the dynamiçs of aFl forms of knowledge that circulate in society. Television can be included as a source of education, since the school needs to leam how to work with the new çtudent sensibilities. Howwer, writing and books will always be the key for the first steps in literacy, since without dorninating the written language it is not possible to read non-verbal language adequateiy.
