(In) segurança hídrica: garantindo o direito à água

Resumo

Este artigo relê os debates sobre segurança e insegurança da água por meio de ferramentas dos estudos geográficos críticos. Ele busca demonstrar o valor dessa perspectiva crítica para a conquista do acesso à água para todos. Embora rejeite a simples desvalorização dos principais discursos sobre segurança hídrica, o artigo observa a falha deles em politizar adequadamente os processos e as relações que reproduzem as desigualdades hídricas. Encontrando lições em escritos recentes sobre ecologia política, o ciclo hidrossocial e sobre o direito à água, o artigo conclui com uma afirmaçãode Gramsci de construir a partir dos conhecimentos fragmentados, mas implícitos nas lutas, a conquista do acesso democrático à água.

Biografia do Autor

  • Alex John Loftus, King’s College London

    O Dr. Alex Loftus ingressou na King's em 2012, depois de passar 7 anos na Royal Holloway como um RCUK Academic Fellow e, em seguida, professor de geografia. Antes disso, ele estudou na University of Edinburgh, Queen’s University (Ontario) e na University of Oxford. Alex completou seu DPhil no último, com foco na ecologia política da água na África do Sul, enquanto também lecionava como professor universitário no St Peter’s College de 2004-2005. Tendo passado a maior parte de sua vida em diversos departamentos de Geografia, ele aprendeu a amar a abertura da disciplina. Alex atualmente faz parte do coletivo editorial da revista Antipode e faz parte doconselho editorial dos Anais da Associação Americana de Geógrafos, Antipode, Valores Ambientais, Geoforum, do Jornal Internacional de Pesquisa Urbana e Regional (IJURR) e do Jornal of Political Ecology.
