Sociabilidade pública: interação social e espaços públicos

Resumo

O presente artigo tem como tema central de reflexão um fenômeno ainda pouco explorado pela geografia, a sociabilidade pública, isto é, as diferentes formas de interação social que ocorrem nos espaços públicos das cidades. Apesar de pouco estudado pelos geógrafos, disciplinas acadêmicas como a sociologia e a antropologia, por exemplo, parecem cada vez mais engajadas na discussão desse importante e relativamente negligenciado tema, cuja problemática evoca, direta ou indiretamente, as dimensões política, social, econômica, cultural, temporal e espacial da vida pública de nossas cidades. Com o presente estudo, buscamos preencher essa lacuna e oferecer, à luz de um ponto de vista geográfico, novas interpretações acerca da dinâmica socioespacial dos espaços públicos nas cidades contemporâneas.
