Abstract

In this paper we analyze two of the main prostitutes of plautine plays, Phronesium, in Truculentus, and Selenium, in Cistellaria, in order to perceive how these personas are built by the author. We examine their discourse and also the voices of other personas that refer to them. The study is structured according to the concept of discursive ethos, developed by Dominique Maingueneau from the notion of rhetorical ethos.
