CRITICAL REVIEW OF THE TECHNOLOGICAL PARKS APPROACHES: ALTERNATIVES INTERPRETATIONS TO THE RECENT BRAZILIAN EXPERIENCES
Abstract
Technological parks have been recognized as integration instruments of multiple actors, institutions and activities related to the processes of technological innovation. In different contexts, various experiences have been undertaken internationally. In common, they constitute privilege loci composed by the physical and organizational infrastructure of articulation and creation of knowledge necessary to the innovation process, that is to say: science and technology (universities); applied knowledge (firms/ market); organizational (practices/relationships). The article undertakes a critical review of the international literature, distinguishing two phases: historical perspective (1960 to mid 1990) and contemporary breakthroughs (mid 1990 to the present). Taking an ex-post vision and based on empirical research (11 parks in process of implementation in Brazil), this paper aims to contribute to a critical discussion of the emerging experiences in Brazil. The following question is posed: how does the recent experiences of technological parks contribute to the technological innovation in Brazil? Underlying this question is the perception that the parks represent projects which would bring about the promise of constructing the future, by means of the economic revitalization and sustainable development.Downloads
