Relação dos principais assuntos de auditoria e o audit delay com a reapresentação das demonstrações financeiras

Resumo

Este estudo analisa a relação entre os Principais Assuntos de Auditoria (PAA), o atraso na emissão do relatório de auditoria (audit delay) e a reapresentação das demonstrações financeiras. A pesquisa parte da hipótese de que atrasos mais longos nos relatórios de auditoria reduzem a qualidade da informação financeira, comprometem o trabalho do auditor e aumentam a probabilidade de reapresentações. Ainda, buscaram-se evidências de que as empresas que reportam PAA tendem a apresentar uma maior qualidade da auditoria e redução das chances de reapresentações. O estudo utilizou dados de 323 empresas não financeiras listadas na Brasil, Bolsa, Balcão (B3) entre 2010 e 2020. Foram aplicadas estatísticas descritivas, testes de diferenças entre médias e proporções, e modelos de regressão em painel. Os resultados mostram que empresas com maior audit delay têm maior propensão a reapresentar suas demonstrações financeiras. Por outro lado, uma maior divulgação dos PAA reduz essa chance de reapresentação. Além disso, a quantidade de PAA modera a relação entre o audit delay e a probabilidade de reapresentação. Esses resultados contribuem com auditores, reguladores, investidores e membros de comitês de governança, especialmente na avaliação de riscos empresariais. A pesquisa também evidencia que o reporte de PAA pelos auditores está associado à redução de eventos de reapresentação, oferecendo insights relevantes para a prática de auditoria e a regulação contábil.
