Abstract

The corporate world is undergoing changes all the time, making room for a corporate culture in which people work for longer hours and harder to achieve professional and personal success. In this organizational reality, the topic Occupational Stress gains even greater importance and proportions than in previous periods. Considering this context, the aim of this study was to identify stress levels, the main sources of excessive stress at work and impact indicators of the consequences of these factors in the productivity of managers who work in private organizations in the state of Minas Gerais. This study, characterized as descriptive, through a survey, points out that, of the 637 surveyed managers, 75,7% presented Occupational Stress symptoms at levels ranging from mild to moderate and intense. The tension sources at work more strongly correlated with stress were to have a day full of assumed work commitments, with little or no free time, and not being able to turn off from the contexts related to work, even outside them. Regarding the impact indicators on productivity of these professionals, the most important were: difficulty of remembering recent events related to work that were previously easily remembered, difficulty in decisionmaking and escaping from job responsibilities, which were previously undertaken in a natural way.
