Abstract

In modern societies the women, who are no longer confined to the household, now work, study and cultivate a social life. When they accept jobs in organizations they no longer have to accept all the conditions imposed. Changes in family and work concepts, better education of women, progress of service based activities, more equitable laws and birth control as well as other aspects have altered the relation of women to the public sphere and work place. Investigation of job performance motivation of women in organizations, when compared to that of men, is important for improving managerial policies. To add to the understanding of gender influence, this study identified differences between men and women with respect to the significance attributed to work. However contrary to common sense and some reports, the need for social relationships was greater among men than women for this group.
