Microeconomic variables found in five Brazilian business games were grouped into categories in order to identify the way in which these games provide managerial experience for different economic scenarios. A descriptive analysis of players' manuals searched for microeconomic variables in the four categories of examination of market models, demand forecast, supply analysis and economic cost analysis. A total of 35 microeconomic variables were found and grouped into categories of graduated importance in the models. All the games allowed students to manage all the categories of variables studied and they differed, mainly with regard to the categories of aspects of market models, supply analysis and demand forecast. Game administrators are urged to adopt these categories for matching game characteristics with educational objectives and group profiles. Two of the important aspects noted were the effort to extend the use of business games for the practice of microeconomic concepts as an interdisciplinary tool and the proposal of a comparative structure of games to support the selection of the business games by the administrators.Downloads
