A inscrição monumental Aquemênida no monte Behistun (Bisitun), na província iraniana do Kermanshah (oeste do Irã), narra a versão oficial da ascensão de Dario ao poder na Pérsia Antiga. Em três línguas e grafias (persa antigo, elamita e acadiano), este inestimável documento histórico foi essencial para a decifração do cuneiforme no século XIX. Ele também se prestou à reconstrução da história do Império Aquemênida, anteriormente conhecida mormente graças aos relatos das fontes gregas e bíblicas. Devido à relevância e singularidade da Inscrição de Behistun, propõe-se uma tradução direta do persa antigo para o português, ampliando o acesso do público leigo e especializado ao documento. Comentários históricos abordando as principais discussões relativas à inscrição acompanham o texto.
