Relativismo cultural e os direitos das minorias sexuais nos países muçulmanos

Resumo

A tensão existente entre as teorias universalistas e relativistas dos direitos humanos compõem o pano de fundo de uma questão sensível no mundo islâmico: a negação sistemática dos direitos das minorias sexuais. O elemento cultural, por muitos considerado como o responsável pela concepção tradicional que o mundo islâmico tem acerca da orientação sexual e da identidade de gênero, é o fator destoante em comparação com o mundo ocidental. Assim, indaga-se se o elemento cultural pode justificar a restrição aos direitos das minorias sexuais em países de cultura islâmica.
