The length of the intestine in Bubalus bubalis (Linnaeus, 1758)

The length of the various enteric segments as well as the intestine in its total length were studied in 20 adults buffaloes (10 males and 10 females).The results obtained were:
small intestine ............................... .27.12 m ± 1.74
cecum .............................................. O.43 m ± 0.05
colon and rectum ............................. 7.70 m ± 0.53
large intestine ................................. 8 .13 m ± 0.58
total length ..................................... 32.25 m ± 2.03
There was no significant difference concerning sex and intestinal length and no correlation either between the total length of the intestine and the weight and or length of the carcasse.
