Abstract

A survey on the teaching of social or behavioural sciences in the Brazilian professional schools in the health field was carried out towards the end of 1971. Out of the existing schools, 122 answered the questionnaire. Themes of social or behavioural sciences were taught in 85 schools. In spite of the great number of schools including this kind of teaching, the authors conclude that the situation of the social or behavioural sciences in the professional schools in the health area is very incipient. Very few social scientists were actually responsible for these courses.
