Abstract

The construction of the research field for studies that include human relationships calls for more than research techniques. The relationships between researcher and research participants have to be constructed during the development of the study, and require sensibility and flexibility to foster the dialogue between them and promote the success of the field research. This paper aims to discuss the experience developed in the field study of the therapeutic strategies adopted in the family context in Itajaí, state of Santa Catarina. We approach the methodological construction and the data collection forms which, in this study, are based on the anthropological perspective. Our introduction into the family universe and our relationship with the research participants are also explained. To apprehend the complexity of the meanings and actions that are constructed on a daily basis, we concluded that is fundamental that the researcher is open to apprehend 'from the inside' the cultural categories manifested by the subjects in the field.
