  IMHOF, RÜDIGER is Professor of English and Irish literature at Wuppertal University, Germany. He has published widely on English and Irish literature. His books include Contemporary Metafiction (1986), John Banville. A Critical Introduction (1989, 1997), The Modern Irish Novel (2002) and A Short History of Irish Literature (2002).
