Author Biography

  • David Barnwell, National University of Ireland Maynooth

    David Barnwell is on the faculty of the Department of Spanish, National University of Ireland Maynooth. Previously he held professorial positions in the United States,
    at the University of South Carolina and Columbia University New York. Barnwell’s main interest in his early career was in the field of foreign language testing, and he has published extensively in the field. Since his return to Ireland he has focused on interactions between Ireland and the Hispanic world. He is editor and principal author of the Foclóir Gaeilge-Spáinnise, an Irish-Spanish dictionary (2009), and is working on a second volume of the dictionary. His other current research project is a biography of the Irish philologist Matthias O’Conway (1766-1842), which will appear later in 2016.
