Abstract

In the present note the results of a study concerning to the effects of Pinus elliottii. 9, 14 and 19 years old, of Pinus taeda. 19 years old, of Pinus patula 19 years old and of natural vegetation of a savannah soil in Assis, State of São Paulo, Brazil, on the amounts of water and calgon dispersed argyle, silte, total sand, coarse sand, medium sand, fine sand and very fine sand, are presented. The study refers to the 0-30 cm and 30-60 cm profundity layers. The following conclusions were obtained: a) In the area with savannah natural vegetation there was a storage of water and calgon dispersed argyle in the 30-60 cm layer and a reduction in the amount of total sand in this layer in relation to the 0-30 cm one. b) In the 14 years Pinus elliottii. covered area there was a silte storage in the 0-30 cm layer and of fine sand in the 30-60 cm one. There were no other effects of plant covering over the differentiation of the amounts of granulometric components among the 0-30 cm and 30-60 cm layers .
