Abstract

The modernization of agriculture cannot be understood only from its last
stage, when occurs the adoption of the “technological package”. The article propose to
consider it as a movement of re-making of technical basis, as well as of the
relationships of labor subordination throughout human history, that is much older than is
admitted by the historiography in general. However, with the preponderance of private
property and capitalist city production in mid-19th century in Brazil, new relationships
are introduced in the process of modernization, now in connection with the modern and
modernity.
