This research aims to analyze the Grão-Pará representatives' actions in the Parliament of the Empire of Brazil, between 1826 and 1840, as form of better understanding the relations between the central government of the Empire and the politics in this province. Such an approach is justifiable since the period between 1826 and 1840 marks a singular cycle in the political life of the Pará province, when its accommodation to the Brazilian State proved itself a factor of instability. Finally, it aims to understand how decisions and alliances made in Rio de Janeiro contributed to the loss of the order in the province, during the second half of the 1830s, culminating with the Cabanagem rebellion.Downloads
