Abstract

The phenomenon of reversion of Bazilians to Islam has been troubling scientists of religion, sociologists and anthropologists. The search for a religion that causes a double break, ethnic and religious brings itself an estrangement. This research describes, succinctly, forms of Islam insertion in Brazilian lands, the phenomenon of reversion and the main constructions and deconstructions based on theoretical savings of symbolic exchanges of Pierre Bourdieu. To do so, it used data obtained from the sample of a group of reversed in the Pari’s mosque - SP, in 2013, where a qualitative and quantitative research was applied. Results were described as the main producers of symbolic goods in Islam, the main forms of consumption of the converted people and the transubstantiation of religious symbols of Christianity to Islam
