This article is an analyse of "Caiçara´s" (fishermen and families inhabiting seabord) relations with nature. We analyse the social representations that "Caiçaras" elaborated - and are still elaborating - of natural spaces (river, sea, forest and mangrove) they inhabit. Nature-representations were investigated through memories-study in which on seeked to rescue tales and the myths connected with natural middle. Oral accounts supplied what signified formerly "to be Caiçara", the knowledge they had about nature and what of this knowledge yet remains. In spite of socio-cultural - and ambiental transformations occured after the 60th and 70th years, a "Caiçara" - identity, recognized by today´s youth navigation through rivers and seas, still exists. Even with all the changes, seabord´s traditional inhabitants still recognize themselves as "Caiçaras"Downloads
