PRONAF: AN EFFICIENT POLICY TO SOLVE THE SETTLEMENT FARMERS PROBLEM, IS IT?

June 1999 the federal government spreaded a document entitled: "Family farming, agrarian reform and local development for a new rural world". The main action adopted to build the "new rural world" was to integrate actions developed in the scope of PRONAF - Family farming strengthening national program and PROCERA - Agrarian Reform Special Credit Program. In this action the government suppresses the Procera and extend the PRONAF to the agrarian reform settlement farmers. The purpose is to contribute on the debate of agriculture of policies to strengthen family farming in Brazil. The evaluation was done in São Paulo State based on document analysis and also on depositions of the settlement farmers and the agents of the involved institutions.Downloads
