Abstract

In The Rustle of language (1988), Roland Barthes said: “criticizing is putting in crisis” (p. 41). As a critic, Barthes devoted his work to several arts and put in crisis some of them. Barthes did so because he was not an art critic, but a critical artist. Painting, philosophy, reading and so many other interests are present in his work. From the multiple Barthes that each work presents us, ours is dedicated to that one who, weekly, "walks alone by the lit and empty street ...", the movie buff. The author who collaborated for Cahiers du cinema, the most influential French film magazine at the time, also wrote about film language and how that language is crafted socially and relates to the other arts. Our job consists in analyzing two texts in which Barthes discusses the film language and also how him, as spectator, receives and interprets this language, they are: "En sortant du cinéma (1975) and" Sur le cinéma "(1942-165).
