This article aims to analyze the construction of black female characters in the short stories “Aramides Florença” and “Mirtes Aparecida da Luz”, emphasizing the resistance and representativeness of black motherhood, in “Insubmissas tears of women” (2011), by Conceição Evaristo. Such women are protagonists of stories of struggle for the realization of dignified conditions of life and freedom, highlighted in tales from different perspectives. It is latent, in the texts, the echo of voices / lives / writings used as mechanisms to combat racism and sexism in force in Brazilian literature. In this sense, Evaristo’s literature is opposed to literature coined in the Eurocentric and slave-traditions by electing discursive lines different from the hegemonic, with a view to highlighting the cultural diversities and experiences of black promotion and empowerment, in addition to recreating different contexts of enunciation, to the insistent black silencing, especially of black women. The theoretical contribution used was the place of speech, voice and lyrics of women in peripheral marginal literature, in the conception of Dalcastagnè (2012) and Ribeiro (2017), the character, in the study of Brait (2017), among others. In the texts by Conceição Evaristo, black lives are important and are constructed in a humanized way.
