This study aims to discuss those that most likely are the first two Brazilian readings of the poetics of translating proposed by the French thinker of Jewish origin Henri Meschonnic. They are the result of a dialogue that Haroldo de Campos and Mário Laranjeira established with Meschonnic, in which the work of Roman Jakobson figures prominently. This dialogue allows us to understand some important dynamics in the invention of a tradition of poetic translation in Brazil.
