Abstract

This article analyses the connection between urban space and sexual diversity in two contemporary Brazilian short stories: “The triumph of hair”, by Aretusa Von, and “My darling Buenos Aires”, by Cíntia Moscovich. Both texts question the space/gender relation, as they accuse and subvert the gendered nature of geographic and discursive places. Besides this, they outline a type of queer space, by questioning compulsory heterosexuality and by deconstructing the binaries that hierarchize contemporary society.
