Aplicação de simulação computacional em OI: modelagem de estratégias de gerenciamento de receitas de companhias aéreas

Resumen

This paper aimed at developing of an application of the computer simulation approach to the Industrial Organisation, as well as at presenting a briefsurvey ofthe literature related to this methodology in economics.The object ofresearch chosen was the strategy ofYield Management by the airlines on the route Rio de Janeiro São Paulo, in the period subsequent to the increase in the liberalisation ofthe sector in 1998. Yield Management is a technological innovation created by the North-American airlines in the process of adjustment to the deregulation in the eighties. The simulation results revealed gains in efficiency by the strategies and nonglobal conditions ofsuperiority in comparison to uniform pricing. The conclusion achieved is that computer simulation is an important alternative to traditional analytical models as it has relevant advantages in the treatment of economic systems, although it can also be interpreted as a complementary methodology with a lower degree of abstraction and with the possibility of experimentation with the hypotheses adopted by models.
