A demografia do tráfico atlântico de escravos para o Brasil
Resumo
Levantam-se questões relativas ao tráfico de escravos, responsável pela entrada de mais de quatro milhões de africanos no Brasil, em trezentos anos. Apresenta-se a bibliografia existente sobre o tema desde o século XIX, com enfase nos trabalhos desenvolvidos após 1960. A demografia do tráfico é estudada em relação a diversos pontos: a estimativa do número total de africanos transportados para o Brasil, a mortaiidade ocorrida durante as viagens e o volume e importância do tráfico interno. Indicam-se novos temas de estudo, como a mortaiidade dos escravos recem-chegados ao Brasil e os aspectos comerciais do tráfico.
