Indagações acerca dos marcadores culturais na tradução

Abstract

In descriptive translation studies, the identification of cultural markers faces certain theoretical and methodological difficulties: the very definition of cultural marker; its linguistic and extralinguistic subcategories; the procedures to be applied in such identification. This essay attempts to map the extent of these difficulties and to propose certain approaches, as yet to be tested in actual descriptive practice.
