This article addresses the book Brasil e Estados Unidos: O que Fez a Diferença [Brazil and the United States: What Made the Difference], journalist Ricardo Lessa’s work published in 2008 by Civilização Brasileira publishing company; and which is a gripping comparative interpretation of the social, cultural and economic factors determining the success and the United State, and frustrating the Brazilian dream of repeating the North-American accomplishment in the tropics
