Abstract

Drawing on the word "soul", used originally in the work of Freud, this article discusses human migration in its intra-psychic and interpsychic components, identity-related aspects and the anxiety brought about in a potentially traumatic process which can lead to experiences of depersonalization and derealization. Migrations give rise to the need for elaborating mourning. Psychological resilience means being able to return to the way of being in another space. Besides Sigmund Freud, this article also relies on contributions from important authors on psychoanalysis, such as Melanie Klein, Wilfred Bion, John Wisdom, Leon Grinberg and Rebecca Grinberg, Nicole Berry, Salmon Akhtar.
