Abstract

The author seeks to show, under a critical viewpoint, how language teaching approachs and methods have been looking upon relations between mother tongue and foreign language in the teaching grand learning process. So the texts is divided into three sections. In the first one, analyzes, under a diachronical outlook, symbiosis and with drawing between mother tongue and foreign language. In the second section, the author shows that language teaching approaches had always misunderstood any relation between mother tongue and foreign language. Finally, he points out researches must cast anchor in Psycholinguistics and its models, in order to build up any new approach.
