Examining 228 samples of cattle skin we identified the Foot-and-Mouth Disease Virus (FMDV) type “C” Waldmann, sub-type “C3”Rezende in two of them. The animals used as a source of skin samples, came from the endemic areas of Foot-and-Mouth Disease, and didn’t reveal any sign of apparent disease after a clinical examination. The results provided evidence that the skin of cattle coming from such areas might carry the disease agent, even if the animals seem to be healthy.
