Abstract

The painter Paim dedicated his carreer to nationalistic themes. He studied our plants and animals, as well as Marajora's drawings and folklore, which he then stylized and reproduzed in ceramics, book and magazine illustrations as well as in paintings. He painted many tile panels among which the most well-known are those in the Church of Nossa Senhora do Brasil, where he worked for more than thirty years. Interesting are the Virgins with peasant features and the representations of Brazilians animals that depict religious themes.
