Abstract

This paper attempts to establish a comparison between João Guimarães Rosa´s Grande sertão: Veredas and A Demanda do Santo Graal, a 13th, century romance of chivalry. On the basis of texts of Brazilian critics who have pointed out such a relationship, it aims at presenting new traits that bring together these great Portuguese texts (even though A Demanda do Santo Graal has been translated from the French original). Above all, it points out structural aspects that justify and serve as a further basis for such a comparison.
