Abstract

This article deals with the lyricism in the work of Guimarães Rosa, here involved with the idealization and sentimentalism characteristic od fairy tales. It focuses particularly on the character "dona Rosalina", from the romance "A estória de Lélio e Lina", in the book No Urubuquaquá, no Pinhém (Corpo de Baile). This elderly lady has got rare qualities, and her speeches are full or poetry and wisdom. Her relationship with a young contrymand who, in their first contact, it attracted by her uncommon powers, is shown as a beautiful case of deep affection between na old lady and a young man.
