Abstract

The concept of postmodernism, in the sense proposed by Linda Hutcheon, is used in the analysis of Brazilian movie pictures and seriais, specially Caramuru- A Invenção do Brasil (Guel Arraes, 2001), hybrid product of cinema and television. In stylistic and ideological aspects, the main subject is the represententation of índios. The comparison with cinematographic and televisual products that follow other poetics indicates the specificity o f cultural representation in the movi e, which consists in the building of decentralized identities by the use ofthe fake and the ludic parody.
