Journal History

The journal has experienced many changes since its conception in 1938 as the "Revista da Faculdade de Medicina Veterinária da USP". The title was adjusted in 1972 to "Revista da Faculdade de Medicina Veterinária e Zootecnia da USP", before assuming its present name in 1990. The journal's periodicity has also changed over the years to accommodate an increase in the number of papers submitted. Originally an annual journal, Brazilian Journal of Veterinary Research and Animal Science gradually matured into: annual (1938-1975), bi-annual (1976-1993), quarterly (1994-1997), bimonthly (1998-2013) and quarterly since 2014.
