Distribuição da renda no Brasil, entre famílias e entre pessoas, em 1970 e 1980
Abstract
Data from the 1970 and 1980 Brazilian Censuses are analysed. It is shown that between 1970 and 1980 the inequality among economically active persons Increased, but less intensivelly than in the previous decade. Differently from what has occurred during the 60's, during the 70,s the inequality increase was more intensive in the rural sector than in the urban sectors, in all regions. When the families are used as units, it is shown that between 1970 and 1980 a small decrease in the inequality of family's income has occurred. This can be explained by the larger number of persons employed per family, specially women in poor families. According to the results of this study, Brazil still presents, in 1980, one of the most unequal income distribution in the world.
