The use of scale models in architecture is one of the oldest tools for analyzing different design aspects, including daylighting. In teaching, this practice is usually common in design workshops. High Dynamic Range Images - HDR - is another practice used for daylighting analysis either. However, most of the studies that address its use explore existing environments, making analyzes in built environments. This work aims to attest to the reliability of using these two techniques combined for daylighting studies in design teaching. Therefore, a case study compares HDR images collected in a scale model and HDR produced from the existing environment. The comparison demonstrates a satisfactory result, attesting that this strategy is reliable of qualitative analysis of lighting and suitable for teaching in design studios.
